Welcome from the Chair of Governors

‘Governors provide strong challenge and support to you and other leaders. They visit the school regularly and analyse pupils’ progress thoroughly. They have an accurate understanding of the school’s strengths and areas where improvement is needed…’

 (Ofsted, 2019)

I am very proud to be Chair of Governors at Larkmead School.  The Governors strongly endorse the sentiments behind ‘The Larkmead Promise’ and we are committed to supporting and working with the staff to ensure that every student achieves to the best of their potential and is fully prepared for the next stage of their life.

Larkmead is a very special community, with wonderful opportunities and special facilities.  Staff are prepared to go that extra mile to get to know the students in their care and work with parents to encourage their children to achieve their best in all that they do.  The rich curriculum not only enables those seeking academic or vocational qualifications, but it ensures that students gain the confidence and develop the skills to help them fulfil their dreams and ambitions. We are proud of our membership of the Vale Academy Trust, our links with local industry and with local schools, all working together to secure the best for our students.

The Ofsted report of 2019, recognised the commitment of governors and stated that,

‘Governors take a reflective and professional approach to their roles. They regularly attend relevant, up-to-date training. The local governing body and the trustees of The Vale Academy Trust work well together to support the school.’

Governors are rightly proud of the high quality of leadership and commitment to first rate teaching and learning, which can only ensure that Larkmead School moves from strength to strength in its drive to be “one community; individual minds; creating futures”.

Amena Sutton,

Chair of Governors
