Success

Our culture of challenge and celebration encourages each student to be ambitious and achieve their very best.  Success in school is not just about exam results.

In all areas of school life, students are regularly praised and recognised for their efforts and achievements, whether for academic or personal success, good attendance, or community service.  Every member of the school is a member of one of the five Larkmead houses and students’ rewards go towards both their house and them as an individual.  Housepoints accompany most rewards and these can be viewed on the school’s rewards platform, epraise.

Housepoints are awarded to students under the Larkmead School strapline – one community, individual minds, creating futures – and six values shown below.

When a student receives certain levels of housepoints, both overall and within any one value, they will receive a Milestone.  Initially this will appear as a virtual badge in epraise, but will also be issued as a certificate in a rewards assembly at key points during the school year.

Other virtual awards may also be given out and these are called Accolades – they exist for everything including effort within a subject area, helping on community service, participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme or the school production and helping out on Open Evening.

Furthermore, there are nine achievements that your child will be working towards whilst in each year at Larkmead.  The requirements, stating what you must do for each achievement, are listed in school and linked below.

Students that work towards gaining all nine achievements will be developing vital skills and experiences alongside their academic success.  This will be recognised in celebration assemblies throughout the year.

As already mentioned, students’ individual and team success are celebrated in our termly whole school assemblies.  Our annual awards for work, progress and attainment in subjects and in school life are a highlight of the year and, coupled with the ongoing rewards through epraise, forms richly deserved recognition for the talent, determination and endeavour of all Larkmead students.
