Year 6 Transition

Looking forward to Larkmead – dates for your diary

New Year 7 Welcome Evening Thursday 15th May 2025 with two sessions at 6pm and 7pm
At this evening you will be welcomed by the Headteacher and given information about what to expect in terms of the transition process.

Primary school visits during May/June 2025
Moving to your new secondary school is exciting, and you will have lots of questions. Meeting you in your primary school helps us to get to know you and make sure you are feeling confident about all that life at Larkmead has to offer.

Extra Special Induction Morning Thursday 12th June 2025
We discuss this with primary schools, and we will send an invitation to your parents if we think you will benefit from this.

Induction Evening Wednesday  25th June 2025 – with two sessions at 6pm and 7pm

This evening is for both parents and students. Students will have the opportunity to meet other students in their tutor group.  There will also be other key staff there to answer any questions you might have about the more practical side of secondary school: for example getting to and from school safely, obtaining lockers, what uniform is required etc.

Induction Day Thursday 26th June 2025 8.30am - 3.10pm

Students will spend a day with their tutor group going around the school trying out a number of different lessons in various subject areas. Students will spend most of the time in lessons, but also take part in some group activities as an entire year group.

3rd September 2024: Start of Term 1

You will start and end your first day with your tutor and start to settle in with just you and the Sixth Form in school that day.

Send admissions

Larkmead is an inclusive school which attracts students with a range of special needs. To address the demands made on SEND provision at Larkmead we use Provision Mapping. This allows for a range of group and individual interventions to be put in place which to appropriately and effectively meet student needs.

Support for students with Education and Health Care Plans (EHCP) will be prioritised through the provision mapping system. Group interventions are targeted towards those with similar needs whilst recognising that some students will need more support than others.

occ admissions

Applying for a school place can leave you confused and raise many questions.  The Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) ‘Starting School’ pages will help you with everything from advice on choosing a school, help with the  Online Application Process through to available transport routes serving the schools.
