A Level Examination results
Larkmead Sixth Form students are once again celebrating, achieving a record number of places at Oxbridge, alongside Russell group and other universities, higher apprenticeships or securing employment.
Larkmead’s ambitious and inclusive Sixth Form draws students from across Abingdon and beyond. Our broader entry criteria enable more young people to continue at school and study A Levels, accessing greater opportunities for their bright futures.
The Larkmead class of 2026 once again includes young people who achieved all A* and A grades, with students securing their chosen destinations and a fantastic range of courses to further their ambitions. Alongside the record number of Oxbridge places, this includes Medicine at Sheffield and Medical Biosciences at Imperial College. We are especially proud that once again we have young people who will be the first in their family to attend university, and that for the second year in a row this includes securing an Oxbridge place.

Progress
Progress at A Level is measured in relation to each student’s average points score at GCSE, and compared to students nationally with similar KS4 attainment. This analysis is referred to as “Level 3 Value Added” and a value of +0.5 would represent students doing, on average, half a grade better in each of their subjects than students nationally.
Level 3 Value Added Scores are released in October by the Department for Education, after analysis of the National data set. It can be approximated, using the National data from last year (2025). Using this approximation, the examination results obtained by Larkmead School sixth form students is +0.10.
