What will my child learn in Business Studies A-Level?

Business Studies is a dynamic subject of great relevance in modern society.  If you have a lively interest in the business world and enjoy reading newspapers and journals and keeping up with current affairs then this subject will give you plenty of satisfaction.

The course involves the study of organisations within their legal, political, economic, social and technological contexts.  It looks at the business world from a range of different perspectives such as: consumer, shareholder, employee and manager views.

The syllabus includes marketing, accountancy and finance, people and operations management.  Other topics include external influences, objectives and strategy.  Assessment is via examinations.

A variety of methods will be used to help you develop an imaginative approach to problem-solving, for example case studies and role play.  The course involves independent study and contributions to discussions and presentations.

You should read newspapers and journals and gain current ideas and information from TV and radio.  The course will be teacher-led but you are expected to study independently.
