Post 16 Choices
Dear Parents and Carers
We are writing to invite you and your child to an event to learn more about your child’s options as they finish Year 11 and make crucial choices to allow them to fulfil their career ambitions.
The Abingdon Consortium for Education will be holding our ‘Futures’ Evening’, a chance to find out about the different routes and courses on offer to your child, in Abingdon. The evening will be held at Abingdon and Witney College, on Monday 16th October in the lecture theatre. There will be information shared about A Levels and the changes to these qualifications, apprenticeships, vocational learning, pathways to university and a chance to meet with lead professionals from all schools and the college.
The sessions will last for approximately 30 minutes, with the keynote speeches repeated three times at 6pm, 6.45pm and 7.30pm. In order to meet the high demand for spaces and so that we can be as flexible as possible to meet your needs, please book into one of these sessions using the link below.
Following the speeches, the café will be open and staff from all partner schools and the college will be available for questions about any of the options available, as well as independent careers advisors to help future proof your child’s choices.
Each partner institution will also host their own Sixth Form/Post 16 open evening. These will be focussed on the facilities and courses available at each site, with an opportunity to meet teaching staff:
Abingdon & Witney College – Wednesday 8th November
Fitzharrys/John Mason School – Thursday 2nd November (joint event at John Mason School)
Larkmead School – Wednesday 1st November.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday 16th October, to start this next, exciting stage of your child’s life.
