Kids Lit Quiz 2018 – Oxfordshire Heat

Didn’t we do well!  Our team did us proud, they came 7th with 70/100!

Alice Downes, Jacob Corbett, Rosie Miller, Izabel Koeman

100 Literary questions; 10 x rounds of 10.

The Kids Lit Quiz is an extremely challenging literary quiz, featuring questions ranging from J.R.R Tolkien to Nursery Rhymes & Super Heroes. It’s known as the ‘Sport of Reading!’

This year’s rounds were entitled: Abbreviations, Caves, Constructions, Dogs, Hair, Bird Characters, Masks, Reptiles, Snow & Ice and Teeth!

Our team played their ‘joker’ to perfection in the Reptiles round, they scored 10/10 and doubled their score! They were 1 of only 2 teams to do this on the day!

Feedback from some Team Members:

  • The LIT QUIZ was an amazing experience and I had such a great time. We managed to come 7th which was a GREAT ACHIEVEMENT! Rosie Miller, Y7
  • On Tuesday 27th November I was one of a team of 4 students to represent Larkmead School at the Oxfordshire heat of the Kids Lit Quiz. It was fun but intense. There were 10 rounds of ten questions, so 100 questions! Only the top scoring team could go through to the UK Heat. On the eighth round (Reptiles) we scored 10/10 and had chosen it as our joker so we achieved double points and won a book each! We came 7th out of 29 teams and had a really fun time. We would love to go again next year. Jacob Corbett, Y7

Spectators were also able to take part answering spot questions between rounds, one of our parents, also an ex-Larkmead student, scooped up 2 x £5 Book Voucher prizes & kindly donated them to a ‘Lucky Dip’ for our team – Thank you!

Feedback from student spectators:

  • ‘The KIDS LIT QUIZ was a fantastic experience! Even though I was spectator I felt involved with the whole event, supporting the team and had lots of fun. Cokethorpe was a beautiful school and set the mood for the afternoon. Sitting on the side lines was stressful so I can hardly imagine what the team must have felt like! We were able to buy books and meet inspiring authors too. I loved it & I hope I can go next year too. Maia Carlin, Y7
  • I had a great time answering questions, meeting authors and supporting the team. The venue (Cokethorpe School) was beautiful and the refreshments were delicious. Emily Clack, Y7
