Carnegie Tea at Larkmead School
The Carnegie Tea launches the Abingdon Schools Joint Shadowing scheme for 2017. The Tea was hosted here at Larkmead School on Friday 17th March.
80 students from year 7 and year 8 from across all of the secondary schools in Abingdon and their Librarians attended the event in the LRC.
The event was supported by Tesco Abingdon who donated cakes for all; they were delicious and not a crumb was left! Major thanks to Tesco for their generosity.
Chris Harris, Head Teacher opened the event with a thought provoking talk on how to write engaging book reviews.
The Carnegie Medal is a prestigious book prize, which is awarded annually to the writer of an outstanding book for children or young people. This year marks it’s 80th Award.
The shadowing scheme involves reading, assessing, discussing and reviewing the shortlisted titles. Students are now eager to get reading and reviewing!
